The Student Leader Scholarships were established to provide a one-time $2,500 or $5,000 scholarship to each recipient. The scholarships recognize graduating seniors from PSBA-member districts who have demonstrated ongoing leadership and meet the criteria for one of four available scholarships. The 2025 scholarships recipients are:
Frerichs Scholarship: Danielle Keebler, Titusville Area School District
Danielle Keebler has been awarded a Frerichs Scholarship by the PSBA Trust. Danielle exemplifies the spirit of this scholarship through her outstanding academic achievements, leadership and dedication to service. She has balanced rigorous coursework with a wide array of extracurriculars, including athletics, volunteer work and part-time employment. She has served as vice president of the National Honor Society and president of the Choir Club, and has been a standout in the performing arts, participating in numerous theatrical productions and leading the marching band as drum major. Her commitment to education was further demonstrated through her service learning class, where she assisted teachers and gained a deep appreciation for the leadership inherent in teaching. Danielle’s glowing recommendations from school officials highlight her initiative, positivity and passion for learning. She plans to attend Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Cook Honors College to pursue a degree in music education.
Frerichs Scholarship: Sadie Livengood, Bedford Area School District
The PSBA Trust is proud to award Sadie Livengood a Frerichs Scholarship. Sadie has demonstrated exceptional academic achievement while balancing a demanding schedule filled with sports, extracurricular activities and part-time work. She has served as an officer for the Class of 2025 and as secretary of the National Honor Society, earning praise from teachers, administrators and community members for her compassion, positivity and love of learning. Her passion for teaching was sparked through her work with children, inspiring her to pursue a career in early childhood education. In her application, Sadie expressed a heartfelt desire to become the kind of teacher who “encourages curiosity, builds confidence and inspires a love for lifelong learning.” Her leadership, both in and out of the classroom, reflects a deep commitment to making a lasting impact on others. She plans to attend Shippensburg University, where she will begin her journey toward becoming an educator.
Marcus Scholarship: Ava Zalewski, Greater Latrobe School District
Ava Zalewski is a 2025 recipient of the PSBA Trust’s Marcus Scholarship. Ava has distinguished herself as a high-achieving student and a dedicated leader, with a strong passion for global studies and public service. She is a four-year member of the Global Scholars Program and the French National Honor Society, and serves as co-secretary of the World Languages Club. Her commitment to international understanding earned her a prestigious scholarship to attend an Arabic language immersion program through the U.S. State Department’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth. Ava’s leadership shines through her roles as a Link Crew peer mentor, group project leader and manager of the boys’ tennis team. She plans to attend Slippery Rock University to study homeland and corporate security while participating in the Army ROTC program. Her long-term goal is to serve as a military intelligence officer and later work in human trafficking prevention — a cause she is deeply passionate about.
Marcus Scholarship: Landon Francis, Otto-Eldred School District
The PSBA Trust is proud to award Landon Francis a Marcus Scholarship. Landon has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, leadership and dedication to service throughout his high school career. A recipient of the Presidential Academic Excellence Award and treasurer of the National Honor Society, he has also excelled in athletics as a four-year starter and captain of the basketball team, earning All-State Recognition and the title of Big 30 Player of the Year. Balancing academics, sports, volunteer work and a part-time job, Landon has proven himself to be a mature, goal-oriented role model with a strong sense of responsibility. His commitment to community service and passion for helping others have inspired his pursuit of a degree in criminal justice. In his application, Landon expressed a desire to develop his leadership, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to make a meaningful impact in society through a career in law enforcement. He plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where he will also play basketball for the Panthers.
Quimby Scholarship: Claire Tremba, Perkiomen Valley School District
Claire Tremba has been awarded a Quimby Scholarship by the PSBA Trust. Claire has excelled academically while balancing a demanding schedule that includes serving as president of the National Honor Society, captain of the varsity girls soccer team and maintaining part-time employment. Her recommendation letters describe her as insightful, compassionate and disciplined — a peer role model who leads with integrity and empathy. As a two-year student representative to her local school board, Claire advocated for student interests and gained firsthand experience in public service. This role sparked her passion for diplomacy and inspired her to pursue a career in global service. In her application essay, she reflected on how leadership rooted in empathy can drive meaningful, systemic change. Claire plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in political science, with aspirations to shape policy and promote advocacy on a global scale.
Quimby Scholarship: Zoie Sidorick, Clearfield Area School District
The PSBA Trust is pleased to award Zoie Sidorick a Quimby Scholarship. A clear leader, Zoie has excelled academically and in a wide range of other activities. She served as a student representative to the school board, vice president of the Class of 2025 and co-vice president of the National Honor Society. Her leadership extends to her community through active involvement in her church and Key Club and through her initiative, Project Personal Hygiene, which provided essential hygiene products to students in need. Letters of recommendation describe her as a well-rounded, purpose-driven student with a positive attitude and a deep commitment to service. In her application essay, Zoie reflected on how her experiences shaped her understanding of leadership as a selfless act of service and a tool for meaningful change. She plans to pursue a dual degree in business and law at Duquesne University to advocate for impactful policies.
Swope Scholarship: Charles Detweiler, Wallingford-Swarthmore School District
Charles Detweiler is the recipient of a Swope Scholarship from the PSBA Trust. Charles is an exemplary student, active in sports and clubs, and a dedicated community volunteer. He is captain of the boys’ swim team, a Student Council member, and was a French foreign exchange student in addition to his many other extracurricular activities and part-time employment. A talented visual artist, he was awarded the George Slick Fellowship, his high school’s highest honor in the arts, was a Congressional Arts Institute Finalist and a PA School Press Association Finalist. His artistic experiences, including the creation of a 40-foot community mural, “reinforced my belief that art is a powerful tool for engagement, shaping environments that bring people together and amplify diverse voices,” he said in his scholarship application essay. He plans to pursue studies in art and urban planning at Wesleyan University.
Swope Scholarship: Kaiya Crowley, Central Bucks School District and Middle Bucks Institute of Technology
The PSBA Trust has awarded Kaiya Crowley a Swope Scholarship. A top-performing student, Kaiya has excelled in a rigorous academic program while balancing a wide range of artistic, extracurricular and professional commitments. She has served as a Multimedia Technology Program Student Ambassador and media intern at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, earning numerous accolades, including a nomination as a U.S. Presidential Scholar in career and technical education, and multiple awards in SkillsUSA competitions and film festivals. Her documentary work was honored with the Best Documentary Film Award at the 2024 Greenfield Youth Film Festival. In addition to her academic and artistic achievements, Kaiya is a classically trained ballet dancer who performs with the Roxey Ballet Company and is actively involved in Philanthropy Today, a student-led grantmaking initiative. Described by her instructor as a “gifted storyteller with a passion for digital cinema,” Kaiya plans to pursue a career in filmmaking. In her application, she shared, “Art continually opens my mind to new perspectives, and I aim to pay it forward by creating life-changing films.” She plans to continue her studies in film and television at Savannah College of Art and Design.
